The ancient oak tree stood there,
In its lonely place,
Stretched its lofty branches,
Into empty space.
How long it has stood there,
No one but it did know,
Watching its lofty branches,
Sprout new leaves, and grow.
Then, one day, the man came,
And knocked the oak tree down,
So its lofty branches,
Died, lying on the ground.
